A/Prof Helen English is currently an ARC Early Career Research Fellow and a member of the Healthy Minds research group at the Hunter Medical Research Institute.
As an ARC fellow, she is exploring how transformation through engagement with music may be experienced and what enables such experiences. She leads a creative-ageing research team at the University of Newcastle, investigating the effects of engagement with creative courses for older adults. Both research projects seek to uncover the enablers of transformative change through engagement with creativity.
Helen’s overarching passion is to widen participation in creative activities and she is an advocate for Arts on Prescription.
